Gaza war hits neighboring Arab economies, could cut GDP 2.3% - UN study

A UN study suggests that the economic impact of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza on Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan could reach at least $10 billion this year, putting over 230,000 people into poverty. The conflict has exacerbated fiscal pressures, slow growth, and unemployment in these Arab countries, deterring investment and impacting consumption and trade. The cost of the conflict in terms of GDP loss may amount to $10.3 billion or 2.3%, and could double if it lasts another six months. The scale of destruction in Gaza within a month of fighting is unprecedented since World War Two. The UN is working with development funds and multilateral financial institutions to develop post-war reconstruction scenarios for Gaza.
