New Denmark law makes desecration of Holy Quran in all forms punishable crime

Denmark's parliament has approved a law criminalizing the public burning of religious texts, aiming to counteract "systematic mockery" and increase terrorism threats in the country. The legislation, which has 94 votes in favour and faces opposition from 77 members, prohibits the burning, tearing, or defilement of holy texts in person or through disseminated videos. Offenders may face fines or up to two years in prison. The law was introduced amid 483 incidents of book burnings or flag burnings between July 21 and October 24.
