PTI blazes a trail with novel use of artificial intelligence

 The Pakistani political party, PTI, has successfully used AI to clone the voice of its founder, Imran Khan, who addressed a virtual jalsa while incarcerated in Adiala Jail. The audio clip, broadcast on social media, was played over archival footage of Khan speaking. The software identified the voice and delivered the message in a similar tone, making people believe that Khan actually delivered the speech. PTI's social media head, Jibran Ilyas, said AI was used to overcome suppression and that the party's rallies are incomplete without Khan. The voice criticised Khan's opponents and lamented the erosion of the rule of law, urging supporters to turn out in large numbers for the upcoming general elections.
